The Binder Animal Hospital family shares your concerns over the effects of the COVID-19 outbreak on our community, our families and our ability to provide care for our patients. We want you to know that we are taking steps to adapt to the current situation and we are modifying those steps as the situation continues to change. We want to be here for your pet's needs.
Our focus is to continue to care for our patients while taking comprehensive actions to provide safety for our clients and our staff.
We are continuing wellness care, illness evaluations, as well as surgical and dental procedures.
We thoroughly clean and disinfect our hospital continuously. We are following the CDC guidelines for social distancing.
Our hours of operation have been modified. We are open:
We are now exclusively scheduling "Curbside" appointments. When you arrive in the hospital parking lot at your appointment time, call the receptionist. We will meet you outside at the end of the ramp and bring your pet into the hospital for the examination. We will communicate with you by phone while you remain in your vehicle. Exams and treatment will be provided in the hospital. Payment will be made over the phone with a credit card at the time of visit. Your pet will be returned to your vehicle.
Call to pre-order medication and food. Payment will be made over the phone with a credit card. When you arrive, call us and we will place the medication in a container outside the entrance door for you to pick up.
We have temporarily suspended the routine scheduling of appointments for anal gland expressions or nail trims. We are creating a request wait list for anal glands and nails. We will call to offer an appointment when a time and staffing are available. If patients have pain or medical problems with their anal glands that require a doctor's care, please let us know.
We are utilizing telephone consultation as appropriate.
COVID-19 and our pets:
It appears that dogs and cats are not readily infected with SARS-CoV-2, we have little to no evidence that they become ill, and no evidence that those that may be naturally infected spread SARS-CoV-2 to other pets or people.
Out of an abundance of caution and until more is known about this virus, if you are ill with COVID-19 you should restrict contact with pets and other animals, just as you would restrict your contact with other people. When possible, have another member of your household or business take care of feeding and otherwise caring for any animals, including pets. If you have a service animal or you must care for your animals, including pets, wear a cloth facemask; don’t pet, don’t share food, kiss, or hug them; and wash your hands before and after any contact with your pet or service animal. You should not share dishes, drinking glasses, cups, eating utensils, towels, or bedding with other people or pets in your home.
Additional guidance on managing pets in homes where people are sick with COVID-19 is available from the CDC by clicking HERE.
We have plans in place to modify our procedures as the situation changes so that we can continue to provide patient care.
